Birders are observing orange-winged Amazon parrots (Amazona amazonica) in Cottingham, East Yorkshire.

David Tucker reports 3 parrots of this species around the “Lawns area” located on Northgate.

The parrots frequent backyard gardens and have been observed daily for the last 6-8 weeks. One of the birds on the pictures looks rather young. This could be a sign that these parrots have been breeding. But it is just as likely that these birds have recently escaped or set free. This species is known to have a nervous disposition and not make the easiest of pets.

These 3 are not the only orange-winged Amazon parrots observed in the UK. John Judge of Draycote birding reports a single bird at Draycote.

YamezA
reports another single orange-winged Amazon parrot in Cambridge. Which is apparently well attuned at survival eating hugh berries.
