First fotograph taken of the Scarlet macaws eating dead wood. After checking with collegue Donald Brightsmit of the Tambopata reserve in Peru we learned that he has observed the same behaviour. The reasons why remain a mystery.

Having a break after a buisy day inspecting nests. The best place is at the end of a beech tree branch. The wind playing with your feathers and an easy meal nearby.
